FEATURE

Smoother background updates that won't bog down your machine no matter how much you chat

Even if you've piled up hundreds of chat sessions, the app won't drag your computer down anymore. Previously, to detect changes in your usage history, the system would aggressively scan every single folder top to bottom; now it smartly narrows its focus to only the relevant directories and safely skips hidden system junk files. We also wrapped the background refresh mechanism in a safety guard, completely eliminating a rare bug where updates could get permanently stuck, freezing your numbers forever. It's like a librarian who used to wander every floor of the building just to spot a single new arrival, but now knows exactly which shelf to check, and has a failsafe so they never get lost in the archives again.

FEATURE

No more stalls on first launch or offline, and cost estimates catch up seamlessly

You no longer have to wait for the app to slowly download pricing tables when you open it. Previously, on a fresh launch or when completely offline, the system would aggressively stall the whole interface just to fetch AI pricing data for your cost estimates; it now instantly uses cached prices or built-in fallbacks while pushing the download to the background, and seamlessly recalculates your costs once the fresh data arrives. If you leave the app running for days, it even auto-updates the pricing out of sight when the cache expires. Like arriving at a restaurant with a broken internet connection—the waiter won't leave you standing at the door waiting for corporate to sync the register, but hands you yesterday's menu to get started, and quietly confirms the latest prices once they're back online.

Original changelog

Original changelogSmoother background updates that won't bog down your machine no matter how much you chat
**Steadier background refresh**: file-change–triggered refreshes are now always marshalled to the main thread, and the refresh routine has an outer guard so it can't get stuck in a state where it never refreshes again.
**Lighter refresh when sessions pile up**: history change-detection narrowed from scanning all of `~/.claude` to the `~/.claude/projects` it actually reads; Codex recent-session enumeration now walks the dated folder structure and scans only what's needed (skipping hidden files like `.DS_Store`) instead of rglob-ing the whole tree on every refresh.

**No stall on first launch / offline**: the pricing-table download moved to the background; cost calculation always uses the local cache or built-in fallback first and auto-refreshes once the download lands. A long-running app also refreshes pricing in the background after the cache expires.
