Remote Control Officially Launches for Cross-Device Session Handoff
If you want to step away from your computer while keeping a close eye on AI progress, you can now take over directly from another device.
By adding the --remote-control flag when launching the tool or typing the /remote-control command in a conversation, you can create a dedicated connection to follow and control the terminal in real time from a phone or tablet. Typing /remote-control off or closing the session automatically tears down the tunnel and unregisters the device list. This connection also fixes permission inheritance issues, ensuring commands initiated remotely fully inherit the original permission mode, cycle mode, and file access grants. Even when data directory names differ, the companion interface faithfully renders rich artifact cards.
FEATURE
Headless Mode Removes Execution Time Limits, Keeps Background Servers Running, and Improves Error Diagnostics
When handing off time-consuming heavy tasks to automation scripts, headless mode no longer forcibly terminates when time runs out.
When running with -p or --prompt, the default timeout has been changed from 5 minutes to unlimited, allowing long-running tasks to execute until the response finishes unless the --print-timeout parameter is passed manually. In sessions with GEMINI_API_KEY, background server commands also remain running after the turn ends. Additionally, when terminated due to an API failure, the CLI prints an AGY_ERROR: {...} JSON record to standard error detailing canonical status, HTTP or gRPC error codes, retryability, and error IDs, while updating the exit code to 3.

Editor Cursor Supports Punctuation Boundaries for Snappier Path and Flag Editing
Word navigation and text deletion have become much more refined when moving the keyboard cursor through the prompt editor. Previously, when pressing word-navigation shortcuts, the cursor only stopped at whitespace, causing it to overshoot long URLs joined by slashes or symbols and wipe out entire path strings when deleting.
The system has now improved word boundary rules so cursor movement shortcuts (such as Alt+F, Alt+B, and arrow key combinations) actively stop at punctuation marks. Word deletion shortcuts (such as Ctrl+W, Alt+Backspace, and Alt+D) likewise stop at punctuation boundaries. Whether dealing with directory levels in file paths, URLs, or various parameter flags, you can now navigate precisely by segment or delete step by step.
BUGFIX
Full-Screen Artifact Viewer Copies Plain Text Without Accidentally Selecting Line Numbers and Padding
When dragging to select with the mouse in the full-screen artifact viewer, copied content no longer includes unwanted noise. Previously, dragging across the screen would capture the leftmost line-number gutter along with trailing padding on the right, requiring you to manually delete line numbers after pasting. This issue has now been fixed: dragging highlights and copies only the document text content itself. You can also press Ctrl+C at any time to re-copy the active selection, press Esc to clear the selection, or hold Shift while dragging to retain native terminal selection.
BUGFIX
Mid-Run Model Switches Now Queue in Order Without Swapping In-Flight Turns
When entering a subsequent instruction with a specified model while the AI is actively answering, the system now queues it properly without disrupting ongoing work. Previously, submitting the /model <name> <prompt> command midway through a running turn would immediately switch the active model, causing in-flight generations to be swapped mid-stream. This issue has now been fixed: one-shot model switches now wait patiently until the queued prompt begins executing, ensuring both the currently running turn and any earlier queued prompts finish completely on the session's original model.
BUGFIX
Oversized Edits No Longer Exceed Session Storage, and Rewind Reverts Avoid Overwriting Work
When encountering massive file changes or rewinding progress, session storage and workspace states are now significantly more stable.
Previously, when file modification diffs exceeded 1 MiB, exceeding the conversation storage limit would force-clear the entire session. Oversized edits now preserve line-change statistics while omitting the massive raw diff content from stored history, and /rewind directly skips elided diffs during reverts. Additionally, when using /rewind for conversation reverts or forks in the past, skipping recent snapshots could cause the system to sweep backward to an outdated workspace snapshot and silently overwrite kept modifications. Snapshot lookup now sweeps forward from the target step, falling back to step-by-step revert replay when no newer snapshot exists.
Original changelog
Original changelogRemote Control Officially Launches for Cross-Device Session Handoff
Added Remote Control (start a connection via `--remote-control` startup flag or `/remote-control` slash command) to create a session-scoped remote connection for following and controlling your active terminal session from another device. Typing `/remote-control off` or closing the session automatically tears down the tunnel and unregisters the device from the active Remote Control session list.
Fixed turns triggered from a connected Remote Control session or running across secondary workspaces executing without the CLI session's active permission mode, cycle mode, and non-workspace file access grants.
Fixed artifacts in the Remote Control companion rendering as plain `<name>.md` file links instead of rich artifact cards when the CLI's application data directory differs from the default bundle name.
Original changelogHeadless Mode Removes Execution Time Limits, Keeps Background Servers Running, and Improves Error Diagnostics
Changed the default timeout for headless (`-p` / `--prompt`) runs from 5 minutes to unlimited so long-running agent turns run until the response completes unless `--print-timeout` is passed explicitly, and enabled daemon background commands in headless `GEMINI_API_KEY` sessions so background servers stay running after the turn finishes.
Improved headless (`-p` / `--prompt`) error reporting when a turn terminates on an agent or model API failure: the CLI now prints a structured `AGY_ERROR: {...}` JSON line on stderr with canonical status, HTTP or gRPC error code, retryability, and error ID (including HTTP status mapping for `GEMINI_API_KEY` SDK errors) and exits with code `3` instead of `1`.
Original changelogEditor Cursor Supports Punctuation Boundaries for Snappier Path and Flag Editing
Improved word-wise cursor movement (`Alt+F`, `Alt+B`, and `Ctrl`/`Alt`+Arrow keys) and word deletion (`Ctrl+W`, `Alt+Backspace`, and `Alt+D`) in the prompt editor to stop at punctuation boundaries instead of only whitespace, making it easy to step through or delete individual segments of file paths, URLs, and flags.
Original changelogFull-Screen Artifact Viewer Copies Plain Text Without Accidentally Selecting Line Numbers and Padding
Fixed text selection in the full-screen artifact viewer capturing the line-number gutter and trailing padding; dragging across the viewer now highlights and copies only the document text, with `Ctrl+C` to re-copy an active selection, `Esc` to clear it, and `Shift`+drag for native terminal selection.
Original changelogMid-Run Model Switches Now Queue in Order Without Swapping In-Flight Turns
Fixed submitting `/model <name> <prompt>` while a turn is already running switching the active model immediately in the middle of the in-flight turn; the one-shot model switch now waits until the queued prompt begins executing so the running turn and any earlier queued prompts finish on the session's original model.
Original changelogOversized Edits No Longer Exceed Session Storage, and Rewind Reverts Avoid Overwriting Work
Fixed file edits with diffs larger than 1 MiB exceeding the conversation storage limit and force-clearing the session; oversized edits now preserve their line-change statistics while omitting the raw diff body from stored conversation history and skipping the elided diff during `/rewind` reverts.
Fixed `/rewind` conversation reverts and forks sweeping backward to an older workspace snapshot when recent snapshot commits were skipped, which could silently overwrite kept work; snapshot lookup now sweeps forward from the target step and falls back to step-by-step revert replay when no later snapshot exists.
