Release notes

FEATURE

--project now accepts project names

Specifying a workspace project from the command line is now much more straightforward, as you can pass a project name directly. Previously, the --project flag only accepted a project ID and failed with an error on anything else; it now accepts human-readable project names. For example, running agy --project "my-cool-app" works directly without having to look up and paste an obscure project ID.

FEATURE

Custom keybindings for renaming and deleting conversations

If you use a compact keyboard without physical function keys, renaming or deleting history in the conversation picker used to be frustrating without easy access to F2 or F4. The system now introduces item.rename and item.delete in keybindings.json, allowing you to rebind the default f2 and f4 shortcuts. You can map them to custom combinations by adding the following snippet to your configuration:

{
  "item.rename": "ctrl+r",
  "item.delete": "ctrl+d"
}
FEATURE

@ file path completion adds typo tolerance

When typing @ to complete a file path, it is easy to accidentally transpose characters or mistype an adjacent key.

The file path completion now includes a typo-tolerant fallback mechanism. Even if your query contains swapped or incorrect characters, it still retrieves the file you meant. Furthermore, typo-based matches will never outrank exact matches, ensuring accurate queries remain prioritized.

FEATURE

Audio attachments now recognize WAV, MP3, and standard formats

You can now attach everyday audio recordings directly to your conversations for model analysis. Previously, even though Gemini models natively accept multiple audio formats, the CLI would reject standard audio files as unsupported; the tool now properly recognizes these standard formats. Files in wav, mp3, m4a, aac, flac, and opus can now be attached without friction.

PERF

Windows typing responsiveness boosted by dropping key-release events

On Windows, the console fires both key-down and key-release events for every keystroke. Because the CLI never reads key releases, this previously roughly doubled the rendering workload for every single letter typed. The system now discards these unused key-release events immediately, noticeably boosting typing responsiveness.

FEATURE

Artifact viewer clusters outline and paging shortcuts

When reading long documents in the artifact viewer, the navigation hints at the bottom of the screen are now much easier to digest. Previously, the outline shortcut was separated from other movement controls; it has now been moved right next to the scroll and page hints. This groups the three navigation methods — scrolling line by line, paging, and jumping via document outline — into a single unified set.

BUGFIX

Print mode now surfaces stream drops and exits non-zero

When automating workflows in print mode (-p), having a broken run reported as a clean success can easily slip unnoticed into automated pipelines. Previously, if the agent state stream was dropped mid-run, the CLI printed an empty response and exited cleanly with success, masking the failure. It now surfaces the stream error directly to the terminal and exits with a non-zero status code.

BUGFIX

CLI flags no longer swallow subsequent arguments

When combining flags in the CLI, an empty prompt flag previously swallowed the subsequent flag as its prompt text. For instance, running --print --sandbox 'do the task' used to execute with --sandbox as the prompt while silently leaving the sandbox disabled. The CLI now corrects flag parsing: this mistake and stray trailing arguments now immediately halt with clear errors.

BUGFIX

/btw cards clamp to terminal height and support scrolling

When opening a /btw side-question card during a conversation, an extensive response previously stretched the card downward endlessly, shoving the footer hints and the input prompt completely off-screen. The expanded card is now properly clamped to the height of your terminal. When an answer is long, you can scroll through it using the arrow keys and page keys (Page Up and Page Down) without disturbing the rest of the interface.

BUGFIX

/resume focuses on active workspace from subdirectories

When working inside a subdirectory and running /resume to pick up a previous chat, the list view used to jump to an unexpected location.

Whenever the CLI was launched from a subfolder of your workspace, the conversation picker failed to land on your current workspace, scrolling down below the visible fold. This focusing issue is now fixed, immediately centering on the workspace you are currently in.

BUGFIX

File links no longer strip styling from the rest of the line

In terminal output, file paths are often formatted as clickable links. Previously, the ANSI reset sequence at the end of a link overreached, inadvertently wiping out the color, bolding, and other styles of all remaining text on that line. The link styling logic is now isolated: prose following a file link retains its intended formatting without dropping back to plain text.

BUGFIX

Eliminating stray characters appearing in the prompt

When typing in certain terminals, a stray ghost character used to pop up in the input prompt every couple of seconds, interrupting your flow. This occurred because the CLI periodically refreshed its terminal input mode, and some terminals echoed those escape sequences as literal text. In practice, only a terminal multiplexer (a tool like tmux that manages multiple virtual terminal sessions within one window) resets these modes behind the scenes. The CLI now restricts periodic re-arming exclusively to multiplexer environments, eliminating phantom characters on standard terminals.

Original changelog

Original changelog--project now accepts project names
Added support for passing a project name to `--project`, which previously accepted only a project ID and failed on anything else.
Original changelogCustom keybindings for renaming and deleting conversations
Added `item.rename` and `item.delete` keybindings for the conversation picker's rename and delete actions, so `f2` and `f4` can be rebound in `keybindings.json` on keyboards without function keys.
Original changelog@ file path completion adds typo tolerance
Improved `@` file path completion with a typo-tolerant fallback, so a query with a transposed or mistyped character still finds the file; typo matches never outrank exact ones.
Original changelogAudio attachments now recognize WAV, MP3, and standard formats
Improved audio attachments by recognizing the standard formats Gemini models accept, including `wav`, `mp3`, `m4a`, `aac`, `flac` and `opus`, which were previously refused as unsupported.
Original changelogWindows typing responsiveness boosted by dropping key-release events
Improved keystroke responsiveness on Windows by discarding the key-release events the console reports and nothing in the CLI reads, which were roughly doubling the rendering work per keystroke.
Original changelogArtifact viewer clusters outline and paging shortcuts
Improved the artifact viewer footer by moving the outline shortcut next to the scroll and page hints, so the three ways to move through a document read as one group.
Original changelogPrint mode now surfaces stream drops and exits non-zero
Fixed print mode (`-p`) exiting successfully with an empty response when the agent state stream was dropped mid-run, which reported a failed turn as a clean success; it now surfaces the stream error and exits non-zero.
Original changelogCLI flags no longer swallow subsequent arguments
Fixed a valueless prompt flag swallowing the next flag as its prompt, so `--print --sandbox 'do the task'` no longer runs with the prompt `--sandbox` and the sandbox off; both that and a stray trailing argument are now errors.
Original changelog/btw cards clamp to terminal height and support scrolling
Fixed an expanded `/btw` card pushing the footer hints and the prompt off-screen on a long answer, which is now clamped to the terminal height and scrollable with the arrow and page keys.
Original changelog/resume focuses on active workspace from subdirectories
Fixed `/resume` opening below the fold instead of on the workspace you are working in, which happened whenever the CLI ran from a subdirectory of that workspace.
Original changelogFile links no longer strip styling from the rest of the line
Fixed text losing its styling for the rest of a line after a file link, where the link's own reset also reset the surrounding prose.
Original changelogEliminating stray characters appearing in the prompt
Fixed a stray character appearing in the prompt every couple of seconds on terminals that print the CLI's periodic input-mode re-arming as literal text; the re-arm now happens only inside a terminal multiplexer, which is the only thing that resets those modes behind the CLI's back.
